Power BI consulting for Nashville teams

HDS builds Power BI reporting and Dynamics 365 foundations for Nashville teams that need sales, operations, and accounting to tell a consistent story. The work starts with the decision a person needs to make, then follows the data back to its source. Delivery is remote-first from Clarksville. There is no Nashville office.

01 · SCOPE

A report is only as useful as the number underneath it

A sales report may look complete while leaving the most useful question unanswered: what happened to the work after the deal closed? Answering that requires a connection between the sales record, the project, and the accounting result. Choosing a different chart does not create that connection.

The practice covers the data pipeline, the shared model, and the report people use. ETL means extracting data from its source, transforming it into a consistent shape, and loading it where reporting can use it. A semantic model then gives the business a shared definition of measures such as pipeline and project margin.

Power BI becomes the place a person can inspect those measures and follow a question into the underlying detail. Dynamics 365 work belongs in the same conversation when the sales process is not capturing the information reporting needs. The wider data platforms and analytics practice covers how those layers fit together. The aim is a report somebody reaches for during work, with definitions they can explain to a colleague.

02 · DELIVERY

Nashville reporting work, delivered from Clarksville

HDS has no Nashville office and no customer-facing office in Clarksville. It is a service-area business based in Clarksville. For a reporting engagement, the useful shared space is the source record on the screen: the opportunity, job, or accounting entry that explains why a number is right or wrong.

Remote reviews let the person responsible for each part of that record join the discussion. A finance lead can check a margin definition while an operations lead checks which jobs it includes. Decisions can be recorded alongside the model, so the next review starts with the previous agreement instead of repeating it.

The practical requirement is access to representative data and the people who can interpret it. The regional page explains how we serve Nashville; here, delivery is organized around the reporting decisions and the systems that support them.

03 · SHIPPED WORK

From sales activity to project margin

In a shipped engagement for a regional concrete contractor, sales pipeline and project operations data lived in disconnected systems. No closed loop between Sales-stage activity and on-the-ground project metrics. Leadership needed to see what sales activity became in operations, without treating the sales report and the project report as unrelated accounts of the business.

  • Dynamics 365 Sales rebuild aligned to the actual sales process
  • Power BI semantic model and dashboards across Sales + Operations
  • Foundation ETL pipeline integrating CRM, project mgmt, and accounting

Closed sales/ops data loop. The CEO, the President of Concrete and the COO are in the dashboards every business day, on a platform licensed for fifteen, alongside nineteen dispatch users on the scheduling app. Ops leadership sees pipeline-to-project-margin in one view.

Daily dashboard use, licensed capacity, and dispatch use measure different things. For your project, agree who needs the report and which decision it should support, then check it against that person's working routine.

04 · BUDGET

Scope the data work before the dashboard

A useful estimate separates connecting the sources, agreeing the model, and building the report. Existing data quality and disputed definitions can change the work more than the number of charts. HDS publishes no pricing figures; a quote needs the actual sources and the question you need answered.

Questions from Nashville reporting teams

Can you help when Dynamics 365 is part of the reporting problem?

Yes. The contractor engagement included rebuilding Dynamics 365 Sales around the actual sales process alongside the Power BI model and reporting pipeline. If a field is missing because nobody captures it during normal work, a report cannot recover it. The engagement needs to address that source problem as well as its effect on the dashboard.

Do our finance and operations people need to attend every session?

They need to be involved when their definitions and decisions are being tested. A finance owner should confirm what margin means; an operations owner should check whether the project view reflects the work. Technical implementation can happen between those reviews. Access to the right people matters more than putting everyone in every meeting.

Could we start with the report we already have?

Yes. An existing report and an example of a number people dispute are useful starting material. We can trace the number back through its calculation and source records, then decide whether to repair the report, revise the model, or fix the pipeline feeding it. A replacement is not the default answer.

Is there a Nashville office for reporting workshops?

No. HDS is a service-area business based in Clarksville, with no Nashville office. Delivery is remote-first. Reporting workshops can use screen sharing, source records, and a shared set of business questions so the people who own each number can participate from where they work.
